When we went to go get our marriage license yesterday I realized my birth certificate is apparently misplaced 🙄 luckily the town clerk knows me, my mom, and dad so we were still able to get the license but I’m going to have to go and get another so I can change my name after 😬 so freaking annoying

Your old name will be on the marriage license after you get married and the only thing they need after you change your name is your marriage license, old social card, and old license. I just went through this process this week!

I was reading online and it said the dmv might want my birth certificate but I didn’t understand why I obviously already have a license it just needs to be updated for my new last name and then I turn 21 in February so I need a new ID then anyways I’m hoping they can just do it all at once lol and I don’t have to pay twice 🙄

@stevie.savoie22, I’m going to just stop to the hospital I was born at and hopefully be able to get another one while I’m down at the SSO since it says to wait 48 hours before going to the dmv anyways. It’s all so confusing lol

When I got my last name changed I had to have my marriage license to change it at the dmv and my social security card. I didn’t have to have my birth certificate.

@damn.it.red, I think I’m going to have a copy of my birth certificate mailed to me and just take it just in case lol this is all a pain for me since the dmv and SSO are all 45 minutes away from me 🤬 so I’ll be making the drive a couple times next week

@samanthaann Idk about here but the hospitals in FL (where I'm from) don't keep the birth certificates, it's the Bureau of Vital Statistics.
