I’m very excited, found out yesterday I am 4 1/2 weeks pregnant with my rainbow baby! I am supposed to go to Haiti in February of 2018, I will be 16 weeks along. My husband and I have talked about it and are comfortable with me going. Anyone else in similar situations?
Thanks for you input guys! I am leading part of the trip & my husband and I have gone for he past 5 years. The numbers of Zika cases have dropped by 99% and there hasn’t been a case reported since April of 2017. So a year later I should’ve done. Also, my neighbor is a travel doctor & she said they have 0% connection to Zika with pregnancy. Doing some research is much less scary than just looking at the CDC website
@nomli, oh wow! Yeah, we’ll be right in the capital. I’ll by with my husband, sister, and father and a ton of other people. We have really awesome travelers insurance that even includes being helicoptered out. Plus being in the capital well have the best care in the country.
My aunt went on a Mediterranean cruise while 6/7 months pregnant. Probably not the best idea, though.
See what your doctor says, though. He vetoed me going to Ireland at 32 weeks, but 16 weeks they may not. The only worry is that if something happens and you can't get any care, that would be bad. If you'll be places with good care and good doctors, he may not refuse, especially if you're not having any complications.
Congratulations and u could talk to ur doc about it see what doc says maybe u can go but be very careful or u might have to wait a year in the end it's ur choice
It’s honestly your choice, but I personally don’t feel comfortable traveling out of the country while pregnant. I would recommend just doing some serious research and talk to you doctor before making the decision 100%.
@blgetchell, oh! That's really good. Ha, so long as your pregnancy is going well, there won't be a problem!
I would've gone to Ireland if my doctor didn't say no, so I'm one of the women who would travel while pregnant, so long as I took precautions and had plans in place, and wasn't going somewhere dangerous.
