How do I go about getting a lip tie diagnosed for my daughter? She can't stay latched to my breast or pacifiers. There's a constant clicking from where she is unlatching. Her top lip won't flare up when she is on the breast. Not really pain on my part. But I have constantly tried to unlatch and relatch her and switch breasts but nothing helps. My husband and I really think she has a lip tie but don't know what to do to get it diagnosed. And her next appointment is her 2 month check up.

We do the frenotomy in our office (pediactrics). It’s a real simple procedure that most pediatricians can do.

@nk2510 so would I just set up an appointment with get peds Dr to get it diagnosed and dealt with?

Check with a doctor if they say theres none go to another one for second opinion.

Yea like at our office moms will just make a appt for breastfeeding issues which I would let them know ahead of time you are pretty sure it’s due to being tongue tied and then maybe ask if your office does the frenotomy procedure. But if not they can definitely refer you out to a place who does. I wouldn’t wait until her 2 month though.

@nk2510 ok thank you. I mean other than the issues above she is gaining her weight and getting the milk. But I have been looking more into the issues and that's what we think it is but of course we don't have any experience on this. I just want a second opinion and if that is to be the issue to get it dealt with.

@nk2510 I tried getting a good picture of what my husband and I believe is a lip tie.....what do you think?

Hmm I’ve never seen them snip the lip. A lot of times the latching issues are due to being tongue tied and they clip that ligament underneath the tongue. But definitely see your pediatrician about it. As soon as you tell them she’s having latching issues they will take a look in her mouth.
