We started oatmeal at 4 months, but now they say 6m for food. He was already 16.5lbs, eating 8oz bottles and trying to grab our food, though, so we figured he was ready.
@jhndms, not at all! I did my research heavily and I found that the first month to use rice so it could absorb all the stomach acids then after a month use oatmeal because rice in general has arsenic and isn't good for baby in the long run oatmeal is a lot healthier and tastier! But it's usually best to only put a tsp because too much will make it super difficult for them to drink it plus it's a choking hazard. If u put too much it could cause constipation. It's up to you, u know ur child the best so you'll know what to do ;)
I know ur supposed to start solids at 4-6 months but I'm a rule breaker and gave my daughter 1tsp rice cereal in her bottle from 2-3 months and now I give her 1tsp oatmeal cereal in her bottle she's doing great she turns 4 months on xmas eve and she's already drinking 6oz every 4 hours which is exactly where it is going to stay for a long time lol
