Ok Breastfeeding momma's I want your help. I have roughly 4 weeks or so til I can go back to work. When should I start pumping to get a stash of breast milk for my hubby to feed my baby girl? I will be working night shift and could be anywhere from 2 hours to 7 hours.
Any other breastfeeding advice/ pumping advice is welcomed. Storage tips, stuff you wish you would have known or didn't know on your breastfeeding journey. Any and all advice welcome to help me though this beautiful journey.

I’d start now so you can build up your supply. After each feeding, pump until 5 minutes after your milk production stops. If she sleeps through a feeding time, pump during that time to keep your supply up.
As for storage, freeze the bags lying down on a flat surface to save space. I made the mistake of freezing one on a barred shelf and it formed around the bars and got stuck🙈. Once they’re frozen they can be stored upright in a bin or drawer so they’re easier to rotate with oldest in the front to newest in the back.
Pumped milk is good for up to 6hrs at room temperature, 3-8 days in a fridge when stored in the back, and up to 6 months in a regular freezer.
Hope that helps!

@theincubator93 when it comes to pumping do I pump on the side she nursed on after she is done? Or would I pump one side while she feeds the other? I also read to feed one side and halfway thru switch her to the other side and then pump the first side she was on? I am sorry for the multiple questions, just want to keep my supply up but also not interfere with her feedings. Right now she is still on the every 2 hour feeds, she nurses from 10-15 minutes each feed. So how long should I pump as well?
I never got this far with my son so it's like brand new to me.

I would wait to pump until four weeks I would only pump twice a day (morning and night) really you should pump anytime you miss a feeding . I did that and had over 80 ounces stored for work. They say have enough for the first three days

When she has a bottle pace feeding is key. That way you can keep up with her

Would you like to be added to our breastfeeding group?

@ecahanes Thank you. I was going to wait til 4 weeks after reading up on it a little last night. Hopefully I'll have my new pump by then. And yes could you please add me to the group 😊

@ecahanes question. With my daughter only being almost 3 weeks is it normal for my boobs to feel empty all the time. No leaking, no engorgement or anything. She only eats maybe 10-12 or 15 minutes each feed. Today she had cluster fed. But not being able to feel the heaviness kinda had me worried. I'm keeping hydrated and she is having her normal wet and dirty diapers. But when I had my son I lost my supply before he was a month old. I just don't want that to happen this time.

@kyntonsmommy, she's going through a growth spurt so you will feel empty. By tomorrow morning you will feel fuller then usual. She's just getting your supply up. Trust your body and baby momma they work great together! 😊👍🏻
