How long is it safe for my son to nap on his stomach, on my chest? 30 minutes? An hour? Can he die of sids even if he's inclined on my chest?

Hmm never heard laying them on you was a problem. Think I’ll ask his pediatrician that tomorrow . Never knew that would be an issue. I just knew you couldn’t lay them in bed on their stomach

Sids happens randomly. All my kids are stomach sleeps and they are coming to find it is better for babies with reflux so they dont choke on vomit in there sleep. My child slept like that all day long and at night it was side or back until they were old enough to roll which was 3 or 4 months. Once they roll over on there own they can sleep how they want.

No sids honestly has no official determination I let my daughter sleep on me timeless nights days etc every child is different but what I’ve heard is baby sleeping resting on you actually helps them with breathing and they’ll feel your heart beat and sync with that I’m not sure if it’s true

I would say ask your pedi? My kids have gone hours in those positions, unless I've woken them up to eat n never had any problems

Actually breastfeeding is a sids prevention technique because they wake throughout the night to eat preventing sids. That is why babies waking often through the night is better than forcing them to sleep through the night by adding cereal to bottles etc .

Your post made me curious as well.@beemommyof3, I'm glad I breast feed at night now knowing it helps prevent sids I was thinking about switching to a bottle when I start school but ill just coffee it if I got to

@km416 Yup. I have been getting my tea in for energy. I wake 3 to 4 times a night for nursing. The first 6 months always stress me out when it comes to sids

I just looked it up and some people say that your body stimulates theirs. So really them laying on your chest has no arm at all. But really that's something you should definitely confirm with your doctor, but my daughter only gets restful sleep at night if she falls asleep on my chest first.
