Guess I never told my birth story so here it goes.

On August 2, 2016 around 3am I got woke up from cramps so I kept walking tossing and turning hoping they would go away, well they didn’t. So around 5 when my husband woke up for work he asked what was wrong. I said I’m having some contractions but I’ll be ok. So I told him to just head to work but to make sure he keeps his phone on him Incase I call. He left for work and not even 15 minuets after he left I called him and said I think you need to come back we need to go to the hospital. So he comes back home and get everything around and head to the hospital. Got to the hospital around 7am got checked in and got hooked up to the monitors. So after a while they come in and checked to see if I’m dilated any. Which before then I was already at 1. They had LPN students at that time so I got checked like 3 times each time haha. By then I was afraid I was gonna be sent home cause I was dilating that much and my contractions were consistent. But has time went on they kept getting a little stronger. So they had me walk the halls for a little bit. Around 12:30ish they finally decided to hook me up to an IV and get fluids going. As time passed by I asked for pain med(which I didn’t really need but I wanted to see how it worked) At around 4ish they said that I was fully dilated and it was time to push. So I started to push with each contraction. I pushed for 2 1/2 hours. I kept saying when they said that she was crowning are you gonna go get the doctor lol. At 6:41pm my little girl made her appearance. They laid her on my stomach and instantly fell in love. So for the afterbirth the placenta came out but it ended up turning my uterus inside out cause what’s called a uterine inversion. My uterus literally expelled from my body inside out. I immediately passed out from going into automatic shock due to blood loss. When that happened they quickly took my daughter away to get her cleaned and get her weight. My doctor had to literally shove my uterus back in by hand and put a clamp on it for it to stay until I got to surgery. There were about 10 nurses that came running in getting me prepped for surgery and putting a second IV in. I was in surgery for about 3 hours along with getting a blood transfusion of 4 bags of blood. When I woke up from surgery I was in the ICU. I was so thankful that my husband called my mom and she came as quickly as possible to the hospital. I was so happy to see her when I woke up. So the following the day rolls around and I’m still in ICU. My original doctor came in to see me and said that she couldn’t believe what happened.(I had the OB doctor that was on call deliver my baby). Come to find out that they had to stuff a crap ton of gauze up inside to help my uterus stay in place. That felt extremely weird when she took it out. I also had to have catheter. Finally around 12pm on August 3 they took me back up to the maternity floor and I finally got to see and hold my baby. That was by far the scariest thing I ever encountered in my life. I just thank god every day that I’m still here to watch my daughter grow.
