For all the young parents out there or even those who may one day become a parent, I want to give you a piece of advice (I’ve learned the hard way). No matter what, make sure that you and your partner/other adult influence raising your child, are on the same page. It doesn't matter how hard one parent tries to always do the right thing, be a good person, and set good examples if the other half is always doing the exact opposite. You can work your butt off every single day, study and put yourself through college while raising your child and working, try to encourage your child to succeed in school, and try to teach your child how to be a good person, but if the other influence in that childs life doesn't do this and doesn't have the same values as you, all of your effort may be for nothing. Your child may decide to follow in your path or may decide to go the opposite way - which is often perceived as the easier and "fun" way. It's like having an angel on one shoulder and the devil on the other. If you want to ensure you are setting your child up for a good future, you have to make sure there is no one countering your every move. - Just food for thought.
