Growing up my mom has always hated the holiday season. We actually stopped celebrating Christmas when we were younger because my mom couldn’t afford it. She tells me she used to cry herself to sleep around this time of year. Now that I converted to Islam I really don’t celebrate Christmas beside just spending time with my family because I love them. But today she calls me and it’s the holidays all over again. Idk if I’m overly emotional because I’m pregnant but I’m hurting because she’s hurting.

I stopped celebrating all holidays in 2013, and it's been so hard but it makes it easier when I spend time with my family or give my kids random gifts. Make your own special day with her and let her know that a holiday is just another day
