"My daughter is one of the fifty children with cancer who live within 20 miles of the Santa Susana Field Lab, one of the worst nuclear meltdowns in America. The SSFL remains contaminated with dangerous radionuclides and carcinogenic chemicals that can cause harm to human health after a single, short-term exposure.

California's Department of Toxic Substance Control, the state agency meant to help us, has abandoned us. They recently released a draft Environmental Impact Report for the site cleanup that proposes to leave vast amounts of the radioactive and carcinogenic waste on site, nearly thirty times less protective than their own official residential cleanup levels. Their report coincides with the financial interests of Boeing, who primarily owns the site, but it will harm residents for generations.
