I’m feeling so stressed and frustrated it’s hurting my stomach. It’s happening all over again where I’m getting over protective and anything my MIL says I’m finding threatening against my parenthood. It was like this with Jarrod when he was little

I find some people we just clash with in life. I'm the same with my OH's mum, we use to get on fine. go shopping together the lot.
Once I had Brody our whole relationship changed, it always felt like she was trying to undermine me as a mother, and it wasn't right unless I did it her way. Some times it felt like she was treating Brody as her child and not her grandchild too, and like I was made to feel in the wrong all the time.

I think its our role as a mother to be protective, even though she's family. So don't be so hard on yourself lovely.

I don't know if it's different generations or whether we'll be the same when our kids have kids (I hope not!). But I feel our Mothers and mil's forget there's more than one way to do things. Because they raised kids and their still alive they think what they did is the best or the only way lol. My Mum's slowly coming around to realising and respecting we all do things differently. She mostly keeps her opinions to herself 😂 But when she doesn't or my MIL makes snides remarks (usually over the phone to my husband). I'll kindly remind her this is how I do things. The key is not to give a toss what other people think. Strangers or family members. Sometimes I'll spend 10mins ranting over something she's said then I wave it off and move on. No good fretting over negative people.

@beffgoude, Thanks Hun it’s just so frustrating. Normally I can just brush it off but I remember feeling exactly like this when Jarrod was a baby where I want to slap the woman and now it’s happening all over again. I think it got easier the older Jarrod got because he knows I’m his mam and what I say goes so she can’t control things even though she tries. I remember saying to my partner when I was pregnant this time round that if she’s getting too overbearing that he better recognise and say something or I will and it won’t be pretty lol xxx

@tremzini yeh I get how you feel, cause im expecting the exact same to happen this time round with this baby. I'm already in protective mode cause I remember what it was like last time, but like you put about your OH im hoping mine does the same and steps in and doesn't let her take over or I will say something this time too.
@sara-lou86 completely right about that, they forget that were mother's and need to learn and they need to support and appreciate our ways of doing things to. I'm all for advice etc, but I don't want someone to take over and undermine the rules we have as a family just because it's not how they did it.

@sara-lou86, Yeah I think I just need to say thanks for the input but I don’t do things that way and let it go. Hopefully that’ll shut her up. It’s just so hard because I know once I get mad and I open my mouth I can’t stop and I’ll end up shouting at her lol. Xxx
