I️ have sickle cell disease and my daughter has the trait so today I️ walked in a fashion show to raise awareness the theme was “walk in our shoes” I️ did a lot of networking because I’ve been working with the sickle cell association to start my own group I️ met a lot of ppl who were so excited to know that there was something like this around it may not seem like a big deal but one step at a time I’m making a difference in someone life

@rikki.ferguson, Sickle cell is a genetic disorder that causes your red blood cells to be deformed instead of being a donut shape there the shape of a sickle so they get stuck in your bloodstream with little to no oxygen it makes you go in pain which is called
A crisis I️ mean I️ feel like this pain is way worse than labor because if you can imagine it feels like knives are going through your veins so you can go into pain wherever you have veins so legs arms face back anywhere sickle cell also cause organ failure, strokes, splenic sequestration and so much more there’s no cure but I’m hoping one day there will be

@shaniiced I'm glad you are raising awareness on this matter. It sounds rough to say the least and people should know more about it. I hope there is a cure one day too.

@shaniiced I'm glad ur raising awareness on this to my mom got it and she use cry about she was in so much pain until I found out more about it I too hope one day they have a cure for me. Me and my 10 month old baby have the trait my other 2 doesn't have it.
