So Zaid unexpectedly wakes at 4am this morning. I go check on him, give him a kiss, turn his night light on, and after 10 minutes I leave. He cries. I realise he's playing with me and wants to come into our bed. And the problem there is that he doesn't actually go back to sleep in our bed, he just starts playing. So I decide he's fine, I'll go back to CIO method. He's barely crying for 3 minutes and the next door neighbours start knocking on the wall. My husband: they probably think we're asleep 😑 yh sure like I could sleep through my child even moaning let alone crying. So now my husband's stressing me out that we're disturbing the neighbours. But what's pissing me off is that I'm going to have a newborn (God willing) in a months time, what do the neighbours expect then?! Anyway, I go to do first check, again as I leave there's more crying, more banging on the wall, hubs also adds to the BS by leaving the bathroom light on and lighting up Zaid's room. 4am and I'm now wide awake from anger. But I know my child. I know he's testing his limits. This time round he gets a stern, it's bedtime now mummy's not coming back in again. I walk out. He gives one yell. And drops off to sleep. I'm glad I stuck that one out. It was the space of 10 mins of crying and the neighbours and my husband made me feel like I was torturing my child and ruining everyone's sleep but it's my long term, I'm not going to let my child regress because it's troubling you all for 10 mins. And get over it, baby's cry. The neighbours better have knocked out of concern and not annoyance (as my husband is adamant about) because I won't take no BS knocking if my newborn is crying!

Here Here! I used to hear my previous neighbours youngest on/off all the time. I knew they struggled with sleep time with him. 10mins is ridiculous. I'd tell them to get over it.

My OH is exactly the same, with the it's not fair on the neighbours 🐄💩!
I secretly think it comes down to them not wanting to deal with there kid crying in middle of night 😂 haha

I'd bang on the wall back at them!! Xx

@beffgoude 100% they're also huge softies. And usually I'm able to explain him to my side, but with the neighbours banging it was stressing him out more lol.

@sara-lou86 honestly seems silly to me. We did cio and Zaid cried 50 mins non stop in our old house, neither neighbours bothered us. My husband is sure that they were just worried about Zaid, I have a feeling that the teen boys next door got pissed lol. We'll see.

Some people are really inconsiderate. If they have ever had children they should know sometimes kids cry at night! It's not like you have a speakerphone pointed to their house! lol

Remind them you have a baby with a nappie through their letter box ;), it is a bit daft and I felt the same when I first moved that I'd be keeping the neighbours up but they have a little one who is a proper terror in the middle of the night and it makes me laugh

If my neighbours knocked on my wall at my crying child i would flip!!! I would go knock on the door and ask what the problem was cheeky shits!!!
Noshin·
@sobia 3 older kids and yet they still knocked. I dunno. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt because my husband is quite close with them! But @mammalinley but yup once I have a newborn I won't be entertaining it at all.
