Question for my nursing mamas, how do you encourage weaning? I'm not in a huge rush but figured my lo would start on his own now that he's one but I seem to be his comfort tool for teething and he nurses to fall asleep and throughout the night so I'm basically a paci ( though he ditched wanting one of those 6 months ago) 😕 My husband says just stop but I can't do that. I've started giving him cow milk in a sippy cup but he still wants to nurse. Is there a method that works or do I just wait till he comprehends more?

Right. If I didn't nurse her back to sleep she wouldn't ever go back to sleep. Lol I'm wean her slowly I guess. I'm pregnant right now so it's taking a toll on my body

@lifewithlynniejade88 I wish you luck :) I'm hoping to sleep at night again myself. I probably wouldn't worry about weaning so much if I got to sleep straight through the night (even one night a week lol). My husband said to stop nursing overnight ( because our son's Dr said it's a bad habit to break) but they don't understand that if I didn't our son would be awake screaming all night and we both work so it's just easier to nurse and let him stay asleep so that we all can sleep.

@tiinii I'm gonna try cutting down as much as possible. Most mornings he will nurse a couple mins when I'm getting up for work before he gets up. When he's up I give him breakfast and usually don't nurse again until naptime. Some days he only has one nap but it's the nights where I feel he catches up for where he misses during the day, I think it's because he's teething. Thanks for your help! :)

@elenalee I'm gonna try that! Yes being engorged is never fun. I've been trying to taper off and most days he does okay only nursing twice till evening. Thanks for your help! :)

I weaned both my boys just after a year. I just slowly took away one feeding every couple of days over the course of a month and when they would ask to nurse I would tell them no more mommas milk and they were a big boy now. I liked doing it slow so I wouldn’t be engorged and they wouldn’t be traumatized. I saved the night time feeding for last since it was their favorite.

I'm in the same boat too girl!! Lynnie never took a pacifier or a bottle! I'm having such a hard time weaning her, & she uses me to sleep so it's gonna be tough

@morganmommy79 I don't think they understand how hard it would be. I told my husband give up something you really love and then you'll see what the baby has to do. I got a blank stare lol

I'm in the same place. She uses me as a paci through the night and hates actual pacifiers. She only 9 months and I plan to at least hurdle a year so we're getting close. My husband says the same. 😒
