Has anyone ever had an abnormal pap spear? I am so stressed out I have never had one until now.

I have. They told me it was because of pre cancerous cells. But I know a couple of friends who were told the same, then when they go back to get checked again its normal. I think it happens to everyone.

I’m so worried and my appt to get a colposcopy isn’t for a month

Yes I did during my pregnancy. I had a colposcopy which is where they look at your cervix with a special magnifying glass. They most likely won’t do a biopsy (where they cut out a small piece of your cervix for testing) during pregnancy. They’ll probably have you come back in after you give birth and double check. Mine looked fine I just had a polyp on my cervix that caused the abnormal pap

It’s possible that you have HPV which caused an abnormal pap but that is so common that pretty much every adult gets it at some point in their lives. Most of the time there are no symptoms and nothing will happen but sometimes it can cause an abnormal pap.

Yes I have then when they did a second one it was normal

I had one come back with cell growth on my cervix. Dr said it was abnormal but looked like cell growth from a pregnancy when it covers the cervix but I wasn't pregnant and he said he wasn't sure if it was cancer but didn't feel that it was. He sent me to a specialist and trust me I prayed and prayed that two weeks I had to wait.

As soon as the specialist examined me she said oh! It's just a cyst and lanced it. Very very minor cramping and I was good to go.

@shellbell0391, isn’t hpv a sexually transmitted virus?

A few, but it's always something that just requires a dose or 3 of antibiotics, Other than slight hpv during pregnancy, which went away on its own.

@treysmommy07 yes, hpv is sexually transmitted, but like herpes, not even a condom will protect you.

I’m been with the same partner for years so I highly doubt I have hpv

@treysmommy07, yes, it is. A very common one. It might not be caused by that, that’s just one cause. Could just be a polyp on your cervix! That can happen during pregnancy

I’m just so nervous I feel sick to my stomach and have to wait a month for my appointment
