Ok so, currently I’m not working and it’s slightly driving me crazy bc I️HATE not having my own money... my dads cancer has spread to his brain & I️ feel like he should move in with me, I️ know that’s a major responsibility but my heart tells me that’s what I️ need to do. My mom supports my decision (they aren’t together, been divorced since I️ was 3) but she questions how I️ will work, take care of him and balance my pregnancy as well as handle home. I️m just ...... idk.... I’m not one to let something deter me bc it’s challenging. I’d rather see if I️ can do it... but what do y’all think? I️ don’t think he can get disability either. Am I️ taking on too much? Honest opinions, I’m not sensitive to truth lol

My grandpa was diagnosed with ALS in May last year and he declined rapidly, he couldn’t even walk by the time July came around. I lived with them and took care of him. I was in school full time and ended up having to take a leave of absence because I couldn’t handle both full time. I don’t know how I would have managed if I had a child or was pregnant at that time because it was hard enough already. I do think it can be done but it is extremely difficult. It was me, my boyfriend, and my grandma and it was a 24/7 job because he was always up all night once the dementia set in. I do think it would be a lot for you to handle and you would likely need someone to be with him while you are at work. Are you going to have to lift him and transfer him? Or can he still walk? All of that makes a difference with you being pregnant. I definitely couldn’t have done what I did for my grandpa if i had been pregnant because I had to lift him from bed to wheelchair and wheelchair to recliner several times a day and when he would fall I’d have to pick him up off of the floor and I wouldn’t have been able to do any of that had I been pregnant at the time.

Sorry for the long comment, but I’ve been through it and I can imagine how you’re feeling right now.

@miasmommy0218, well they gave him radiation treatment and meds to help the swelling go down in his head to help with his memory. He has came around some. He wasn’t able to really move his right size, but he is now a little. He does physical therapy at the hospital right now. They haven’t released him yet. My boyfriend will be here too if he does need to be lifted. He’s lost so much weight, he’s 109lbs now. He is able to feed himself he just can’t remember much. I️ know he won’t be able to get around and it’s crazy bc he was literally fine 2 days before it happened, perfectly fine.

Every one is not your ministry. Focus on that baby.
