I'm 7 months pregnant i suffer from several mental issues one of which is anxiety it's pretty severe I'm going to be getting a c section because i don't want to push a watermelon through a donut hole I'm freaking out over how they will handle my pain i have no interest in having a needle in my back i went to my doctor today to discuss the surgery she not only told me i couldn't be put under (which is what i wanted) i would end up having a needle in my back i told her that the reason why i didn't want it isn't because i can't handle it going in it's because the real pain is going to be felt as it's already underneath my skin and muscle which she than told me that they could spray medicine on my back to numb it which wouldn't do much good i also expressed my concerns of becoming paralyzed she told me that couldn't happen which i know to be a lie so after that i asked her if there is going to be any pain what can i expect she said a 5 or 6 i than said i hope that doesn't happen to which she replied "thats life" and after that she srarted to belittle me by the end of the appointment i was greatly offended and my anxiety was through the roof i know that some of you will probably just tell me to suck it up or I'm over reacting or whatever but i do know that when you go to see a "medical professional" they're supposed to give you all of your options and be understanding of your situation i feel like i was denied both of those standards can someone possibly help me?

From what I understand they won't put you under unless its an emergency(life or death). The needle doesn't hurt that bad. I was up walking around a few hours after my c section the second time, first time was rough. But they also give you meds through your IV to help manage pain after the spinal block wears off.

I've not heard that they can do cesareans without the epidural/spinal. Did you ask about getting nitrous gas during procedure? I used it during a wisdom tooth removal and they could have cut my left leg off without me caring. I don't think they put you under without good reason because it can cause complications for the baby. I'm sorry your Dr was insensitive and don't mean to sound insensitive myself but you need to consider that the scary parts of delivering are par for the course and women are equipped with what's necessary to handle it. If you're only doing the cesarean because you don't want to push you might consider vaginal delivery with stadol iv or gas, you dilate so it's technically not a donut...

They can’t put you under for a c section unless your life is in danger. With that said, if you are scared of the surgery you’re only other option is to go natural, sadly. That’s it. I understand you are scared and thinking about all the things that could go wrong, but medicine has come a long way and they do know what they are doing. See if you can ask for something to help relax you.

They can put you under for a csection. I had the option when I had my son however there will be a tube down your throat and they warn u that if yanked while you’re out it can damage your throat and teeth. I got the spinal and it wasn’t bad. I was fine that same day and left the hospital the next day.
