My brother took my niece (from Cali to Alabama) before she was even a year, they said she done pretty good actually slept most of the trip. Cried a little after taking off because her ears popped but other than that said it was easy! Just be sure to have plenty of bottles and stuff ☺️😌

He's been on 3 round trip flights so far, the last one at 9m, but he's been on long car rides several times in the last few months too.

Have a few new toys to give to her throughout the flights. Have food, drinks, etc. You're allowed to bring a bottle of water through security when it's for a baby.

We put a movie on for him sometimes to, when it's a long flight or he's getting really fussy.

@nomli, do you know how much formula is allowed to take ?

We brought a normal size water bottle and then enough powder for a few bottles, and a few of those small bottle of the pre-made stuff. The TSA dude said if it was formula for a baby, it doesn't matter the size. Just has to be unopened through security. They did a separate screening for the liquid and pouches, though, so you may have to wait a little longer than usual.

We usually only bring what we need through the airport and then buy when we get where we're going. Cuts down on luggage.

You're welcome! Oh, and most airlines don't count the diaper bag as a carry on, so you get an extra bag! I didn't know that the first time we flew and tried to jam everything into one bag....didn't work so well.

Does she have her own seat or are you lap carrying her?

Even better more space for my nonsense muahaha ! & she’s sitting on my lap . I thought I’d have to purchase her a seat but kids under 2 fly free on the lap . Thankfully . Hahaha, Mmhmm! Yeah, we splurged and bought him a seat and he flew in his carseat every time.....especially when we flew to Vegas. 6 hour flight with a baby who hates to stay still? No thank you. Apparently some airlines will let you buy an actual seat for small children at a discount, but we haven't tried that yet.

My sister used her baby carrier when she flew with her almost 8 month old. Gate checked the stroller and plopped him into the carrier on her chest. He napped. If you can, try and move her nap to just before or after boarding, and hopefully she'll sleep on the flight. We also have resorted to a movie to keep him calm. His ears have been okay, but I'll try to give him something to suck just in case.

We brought jars and pouches that were like 4oz each. The TSA folks only looked at them. Snacks like cereal don't matter. I always tell them before I send it through that I have baby food.

The first time we flew I had no idea, but he was only 4 months and I just packed the 2oz bottles of the liquid formula, but the surprisingly helpful TSA man explained to me that when it comes to babies and their food, there are no real restrictions. I could bring the 8oz bottles of pre-made liquid formula, pouches and jars that were larger than the usual 3.4oz max, and even a regular bottle of Poland Spring. It all just has to be unopened and sealed when you reach security. Powder formula I just had in the little plastic dispenser thing, and I don't think they even looked at it.
