When you put your toddler in time out. Where do you put them? I think it’s about time we start doing it at home🙄

I've been thinking the same thing. Because my baby boy is really not listening when we tell him no.

I have them sit on their bed with no toys in the room. They sit on the bed for one minute per each year of their age (a 6 year old gets a 6 minute time out)

That's how super nanny does it. And that's what they teach at parenting classes. You give clear consequences for not obeying the time out like privileges revoked. And if the behavior continues they lose more privileges until they don't get to have any fun.

Then once they start behaving and listening you can involve them in the festivities and praise them verbally for their good behavior that's just as important as anything. "See, if you listen and behave you get to have fun with mom and dad"

If it’s possible to have a time out chair like a chair just for time out that might be good because they know that spot as time out and no fun. Also I’ve seen people take their kids to a chair some place at a restaurant or something for a time out. Usually anywhere u go there will be a spot you can find to enforce a time out. Consistency is key to time outs. So even if you’re out and about you can teach good behavior

Where ever you take him it needs to be somewhere neutral without stimulation like a tv playing or people walking around. So at home make sure time out isn't in the living room or somewhere more populated in the home. A bedroom is more ideal. And in public places I would say the car is best. That way the focus can be on you. And he is completely removed from the situation so he can calm and listen to you
