Hi ladies, I'm new here and I'm a first time mom to a beautiful 2 1/2 month old little boy. I'm in need of some serious advice/ pep talk. I go back to work at the end of November, and unfortunately my mother in law will be watching him one day per week. I am absolutely dreading this more then I can possibly explain. She's a very difficult person and contradicts a lot of the things I want to implement with my son. My husband has had talks with her but it hasn't changed and unfortunately we can't afford to put him in day care for that one day, and plus it's just not worth the drama. Help! Any advice from anyone in a similar situation is so appreciated.

Hey, I had this issue with my mother and still do to this day. She’s always right and my mom so she thinks she’s in charge. My kids love her more than anything and I was so so sick of it, I finally threatened that she wasn’t allowed to be alone with my kids for the time being until she respected me as their mother. It took a while and she still slips up but things have gotten a lot better 🙄

I would try to have a serious talk with her. That ( like she said^^) if she can't respect you and your wants for your child, then she won't watch the baby. (Pretend like she isn't your only option). If she can't respect what you want for you 2 1/2 month old... how do you think she will ever respect what you want for that kid? It only gets harder (and worse) as they get older! First it's little things like a binky, thumb sucking, letting watch tv, to big things like choosing what they eat (candy) drink, .. I promise! Nip it in the butt now. Let her know how thankful y'all are that she has agreed to watch him, BUT if she cannot respect ANY and ALL, whether big or little deacons, of yalls.. than y'all will find someone else.
