Me and hubby were able to pay bills comfortably and have some in our savings account when we started trying. After getting pregnant hubby changed jobs and did a month training with no pay which drained our savings then we were finally getting back on our feet and he had a work accident that left his wrist broken and him jobless 3 weeks before our due date. It's been stressful but we r finally gonna be start getting back on our feet next week when our paychecks start coming in again (cuz I had to be off work for 6 weeks). Moral of the story is u can be finincally ready and everything can change in the blink of an eye
I don't think anyone is really financially ready lol. Our baby was a planned baby and We were pretty ok but in August my husband lost his job and our moving plans fell thru. Now we're having to remodel the entire bedroom baby will be in, we have baby stuff everywhere cuz of that and my husbands paychecks so ain't that great. But gotta stay positive. Just remember you can be very ready and then things can change in a heartbeat.

I didnt have anything to cut back on lol. We werent even making enough to cover all the bills. At first me and his dad were living apart but then we moved together and just lived frugal. Work and home pretty much until I graduated the first time. Then he went to school and got skilled trades certificate while i worked and got a great job. After that I went to school online while working. I haven't had a vacation or time to myself in 7 years. I wouldnt change it though. My kids made me a better person.
@nomli, thank you so much for all that info! That was so helpful! My husband and I are just worried about not being able to provide financially for when we do get pregnant. We’ve been trying for 3 years so it’s not like we haven’t had time to cut back stuff and get more money saved. But it’s hard when I get discouraged and depressed from the negatives and I buy stuff or we go on a vacation.
Hopefully, thank you! We just tried to be more mindful at the grocery store, and got as much as we could secondhand. We already didn't have cable or a house phone. When the lease is up on the car we plan on getting a less expensive one. Scoured sales on formula and diapers. Coupons. I made most of his baby food which cut costs a lot.
Hospital and doctor bills, mainly. But all the other things needed, too, like crib, clothes, and formula. Then he needed surgery at 8m so that was an unexpected cost.
