@h_mother0322 If it's the other parents name, in most states you have to prove that other parent either unfit or show that he had abandoned the child for more than 6 months. It's a hard thing to do. I've been trying to do this forever. The courts want me to pay 2500 for a lawyer, I have proof of abandonment but I still have to pay for a lawyer and courts cost to change my daughters last name all because the father signed the birth certificate and use to pay child support!
@tayler, The state still hasn’t proven him biological father nor does he pay child support and I have police reports supporting abuse during the pregnancy & after the pregnancy and I have protections order against him
@h_mother0322 In my state if they sign the birth certificate they automatically have rights to the child. Idk if it's like that in your state but if it is that could be why it's so hard to change it 😔 Have you went to your county building and talked to anyone about what to do?
@tayler, no I’ve been trying get consult with family lawyer first but I can’t trust nobody because everybody seem know my baby daddy and his family. In state of Georgia if we was married during conceived, he has no rights period.

@tayler, i thought this pregnancy was my turn around & going to college was my turn around. It hasn’t did nothing but cause more stress.
