**Moms with ADHD kiddos!**
So recently my husband and I have begun to suspect our 3.5yo has ADHD. Every time we read the symptoms it pretty much describes her behavior perfectly. My husband definitely has a mild form (undiagnosed and unmedicated but we are all well aware of it). She is still too young to be evaluated and I’m firmly against medicating a toddler unless it’s the absolute last resort! I’ve been looking into changes in diet and routine to help her instead and let me tell you I’ve already noticed such an incredible difference in the last two weeks! She is so much calmer, she can sit and focus on simple things like eating a meal, we can take her out without her running around like a crazy person, she can now sit still for more than 10 seconds, it doesn’t take her hours to fall asleep at night anymore, and just seems generally more calm and focused!
I was so worried about sending her to preschool or starting a gym or dance class because she couldn’t focus for more than a few seconds and gets bored almost instantly. But now I feel like we can actually let her do those things she wants to do so badly! I’m seriously so impressed! It’s also helping our family eat better as well so that’s a definite plus!
I’m constantly looking for new suggestions on how to naturally reduce ADHD symptoms. We have already reduced her sugar intake by about 80% and switched her to more Whole and organic foods free from artificial dyes (like red 40) and she uses a natural sleep aide (but only once a week or so at most..I don’t want her becoming dependent to sleep..especially since her sleep seems to be improving) and her grandparents are also on board by buying her special and healthier snacks for when she visits.
Does any other Mom with a child with ADHD have any natural tips that they thought made a difference?

If I’m reading correctly you self diagnosed her? It almost appears she’s a typical three and half year old. Then again what do I know. Have a fab day

@nurseriri, yes. But she’s also not a typical 3.5 yo. I have been doing a ton of research, speaking to moms who’s children have been officially diagnosed, and plan on getting her officially evaluated when she comes of age. Seeing her around peers her age, she is much more hyper, intense, and unfocused. I refused to accept it at first because I believe medicating a child for being a child is absolutely ridiculous (but I understand it may be necessary for some and to each their own)
I’m not a professional at all, and I’m not “self diagnosing”, I’m not saying she has it, just that we suspect and are trying some natural (healthy) symptom reducers that can definitely say have made a huge improvement on her behavior. All I did was change her diet. Now when she is formally evaluated after she turns 4 they could tell me she doesn’t have ADHD and I’d be perfectly happy that I might be wrong! But it won’t change the way I’m choosing to address her behavior, especially with another toddler and a baby on the way I need the relief. All I’m doing is asking moms who’s children have been formally diagnosed on what helped them without medication.
Not looking to get into a dispute with anyone on this issue so if you don’t agree, simply move along :) thank you!

@momma_dee, thanks girl 😊 it may be that she just can’t tolerate sugar well and if that’s the case I’ll be dancing in the street haha I’ll definitely try that tea I’ve heard great things about it!

I think the healthy eating and getting air+sunshine will definitely do the trick. Healthy fats are super important for growing brains. A good fish oil supp daily (try carlsons), chia seeds in juice or milk. And gut health has been linked to some behavior issues so a good probiotic. If it were a very severe case I would recommend cbd oil but it sounds like she's fine.

@vegasmomma, oh no. Just asking that’s all. Knowledge is power to us all. I’ve never been around a child with adhd so I’m learning.
