At 14m they can certainly be told what not to do.

@nomli He knows what the word "no" means, he just doesn't like it. He's making life more difficult for me, because when daddy let's him do all of this stuff, he throws a much bigger tantrum when mommy doesn't let him 😑

Oye. He wants to be the 'fun' parent and let you be the 'tough' parent. That's not how it works!!!

For the last few weeks we've been working on "You STAND on the floor, SIT on the couch/chair." It's finally sinking in. He doesn't stand on the couch as much. They learn. But only with consistency! Will he wait until the boy falls and hurts himself?

@nomli Actually he gets upset with me for not just letting him do what he wants. He kept trying to climb on a floor lamp the other day, I would tell him no, pull him away, and let him have his little tantrum about it, then do the whole thing over again.

Husband says I'm going to mess up his psyche, by telling him no and letting him cry 😐

😐😂 When my son cries because I won't let him do something, I ignore it. One of his favorite games is taking things out of the trash can. Now, a plate or envelope I don't care about, since it's just paper, but he still gets told 'no' because sometimes there are sharp or raw things in there, and those would be bad to play with. He gets mad at me, but he still gets a little timeout.

@nomli yep, I ignore it too, and just keep stopping him every time he tries again, lol.

My husband thinks I should let him do whatever he wants, and my husband's mother thinks I should be spanking him for throwing tantrums 🙄

@joanna.davis, not you’re teaching him rules. And keeping him safe. If something happened you or he wouldn’t want to feel you didn’t do everything in your power to stop it.

@coffeemomma in 6 weeks, I'm going to have my hands full with a newborn, and recovering from surgery. It'd be awesome if my husband had been helping to enforce rules so maybe our son would listen when I say "no." I won't always be able to jump up and stop him in an instant ☹ There's not much more I can do to baby proof either, he's climbing on top of EVERYTHING!

Can you get a play yard gate thing to keep him in one safe area? Just for a while, until either your husband realizes he's dumb or you're able to move again? We had one set up in our living room until recently.

My husband is the same way if i leave him with the kids i won't have a home lol

@nomli i have the living room blocked off to keep him in there, but unless I remove all furniture, he's still not safe. No matter where he is, he finds something to climb 😣
