Just so I can get an idea, how much relief and assistance are moms looking to get from their partners with their newborn?

@nomli, I also had a csection and I know that is part of what is effecting my ability to keep doing- I am also historically horrible at asking for help and tend to just “put up and shut up”, but I need to try and start getting more balance and letting more things go - especially since in a few short weeks I’ll be back to work as well.

My hubby has always been in charge of dishes, garbage take out and laundry (I fold it but he does it) - but I really need to see if I can get him to do more nighttime feedings- he sleeps so heavy sometimes it is more of a pain in the butt to wake him than to just do it myself. He enjoys holding his daughter but the only times he does that are when he is home from work (he pulls 12+ hr days) and I know he is exhausted too because one of his jobs is physically demanding...

This helps though to see what other partners have done - it puts in perspective what I might be able to ask him to do.

He would change diapers, soothe, help with feedings, do laundry, dishes, vacuum. I had a c-section so couldn't do much of that in the beginning. Breastfeeding didn't work, so I pumped at first, then supplemented with formula, then switched completely to formula. After that we tag teamed night feedings. I'd do one, he'd do one, and so on.

@autumnarrival17, it's not but just know it's ok to cry and to talk to your husband about the stress and anxiety and exhaustion it will help him understand why you are being crabby and emotional towards him. When I have my moments of weakness I just take the youngest and put him in his lap and go to my room and lay down. Cuz shit gets real sometimes lol

@autumnarrival17, oh I totally understand. With my first I cried a lot from exhaustion and with my second I was a lot more prepared and use to not getting a lot of sleep so it wasn't as bad but I totally get it. The past three nights I haven't gotten much sleep because of the boys having colds sooo ya good times 🙃 but I am thankful and very blessed for my boys. That's what keeps me going. Tell yourself "this too shall pass"

@ecahanes, I only averaged about a 2-3 hours a night while pregnant due to pretty extreme GERD- it is just all really catching up with me and my body is not responding well after all these months :/

Only time my hubby would help is with my toddler. With my first he would help me sleep and diaper changes but that's it since I breastfed

@autumnarrival17, I took a naps when my son did. I still do actually. My boyfriend wasn’t home until dinner time so by then it didn’t do me any good to sleep.

I asked for enough time to take a shower or bath and eat a hot meal.
