Why is it so hard for me to really like my youngest step child....I mean she don't like me at all bc I don't let her have her way lying, manipulate, con to get her way. It seems my hubby (until recrntly bc I been calling her on her stuff). It seems like we have a conflicting relationship. She lied on me to get her mom n my hubby confronted me n I told the truth n he know she is much like her mom. But it seems like she have NO self control or do things she know gets under my skin. I call her on her lies n deceitful acts bc I try to teach her self control n I have another set of rules in my home. This weekend she purpose ate my youngest chips I have given her a special gift bc she stayed in the house with me for a month while I recovered n mt step daughter purposely ate done after I told her I was just for MY 2 yrs old daughter. I was 🔥 HOT I confronted her n told my hubby n she played the victim by crying. My hubby saw right thru it bcuz her mom does the same thing smh it bothers me this 8 yrs old step child really hates me n this my first time having step kids.

I mean it sort of sounds like you don't like her and she knows that. Also telling her she cant have YOUR daughters chips is kind of setting yourself up for failure. Maybe try a gentler, kinder approach. She's still a child and you're the adult in this situation.

@saniyyahhasan no disrespect but I agree with @alyssavanb also did you give her this gift right infront of your step daughter? And shes only 8 years old she is still a child and she is still learning. The truth is, everyone lies and it kind of seems like youre singling her out a bit because you dont like her mom, it could just be the way you worded it or the way I am inturpertating it... But I definitely think you should try a nicer approach. 😊

I have to catch myself bcuz she is only 8 but she have so much of her mom in her n my hubby till recently has been over reacting to things about how my kids do this n that towards his kids all bc if their mom. He takes it out on my kids by over reacting. So not only his kids think they can get away.with.everything with their mom but my hubby use to let them. I was n still am the one trying to teach them self control so its like im battling with them respecting me n walking on egg shells. She the only one who listens to their mom to not respect me so it's a constant struggle

I expressed what I feel to my hubby n he completely understand bc he feel the same about their mom n their mom even admit she is just like her... So what do I do? I'm the one take care of them when they are here not hubby n I'm the one being lied on when I correct her so what do I do?

@saniyyahhasan Oh thats completely different then. Sorry hun it was definitely the way you worded it I kind of get what youre going through my dads girlfriend treats her daughter differently then she treats my sister. If her daughter does something wrong shell ground her for a few days but if my sister does the same thing as her daughter my sister will end up getting grounded for a week or 2. Its unfair. But I get it, its different when its not your own kid. You dont really know how to punish and you didnt raise her yourself so you might not agree with the way she was brought up etc.

@saniyyahhasan I guess the only thing you can really do is set up some rules and boundaries with her. Explain to her that things arent the same as at her moms because shes not at her moms shes at your home. And that you would like for her to follow your rules. But you know try to be nice, its hard I get it but try your best I am sure you have got this. Also talk to your hubby about what kind of rules and boundaries you would like for her to have when she comes over to your place and then when you have decided YOU and YOUR HUSBAND should both sit her down and talk to her just the three of you.

@mommaxbearx I doing the best I can honestly n I DON'T punish them like I would my kids but the level of respect is not cool n my hubby talked to her about how she should treat me n our home but she clearly don't care bc what happened this weekend I kinda on the verge of just take a few weekends off from then to reboot bc I hate this feeling but deserve respect in my own home when they are here n should not walk on egg shells when they are here. So can yall give me any suggestions instead of being one sided?

Make sure the rules arent completely ridiculous though, that they arent unrealistic and that they are fair. Hold her to the same standard you would hold your own daughter.
