When they pulled my tooth they fractured my jaw lining. I had to wait for that to heal so something that normally should have been fine after a few days took a week plus to heal

dry socket only happens if you lose the blood clot prematurely I think. i didn't experience it with mine, I had my bottom 2 removed and I would say 7 day to fully heal
