Okay so being a ftm here, I worry about everything lol. I currently bottlefeed my baby boy and I want to make sure I am doing it 'right'. I wash his bottles with soap and super hot water but I don't do this after EVERY feed. Sometimes I rinse with hot water especially in the night because I am super tired. I also shake his bottles to mix the formula. I hear this causes bubbles and gas. I have a formula mixer which makes 8 bottles and I know you can store in the refrigerator but I don't have a bottle warmed and I hate waiting for it to warm up in a hot bowl or cup. Is it okay to just wash often but not after EVERY feed? And shake to mix formula? Or should I invest in a bottle warmer and sterilizer and use the formula mixer to make multiple bottles?

What I.did was buy a lot.of.bottles. then put however much water the baby is drinking at the time in there. Then once he or she wants a bottle add the formula and shake. Dirty bottles get washed in the morning.

The bottle warmer was the best thing we purchased. I ordered it at 2am a few weeks in and wish I had it from the start. Invest in one that has a way for you to accurately warm them...ours was a cheapo one that was more of a guess-how-warm-it'll-get.
We also had a lot of bottles so some could go in the dishwasher while we used the others.

With both my babies I just used really warm tap water when mixing their formula bottles. Never used a bottle warmer. I always washed the bottles everytime they all were dirty. I only sterilized before first use and if they started to get a funky smell even after they were washed multiple times

Yes it is ok. I agree with all the mommies. U don't have to have a bottle warmer. I taste everything before i give it to my kids. It let's me kno why or why not they like it so when it comes to the microwave i warmed them up on 30 seconds, shook it up, and pulled on it a couple of times which not only told me the temp but also told me the exact flow of milk

I do what @momof42 said. If you have enough bottles to wait and wash later do that. If not, I would rinse out the bottle you just used before any residue sits in there too long.

What I found works good for washing bottles and getting that “milk” smell out of it is a brand called dapple. They sell it right at Walmart and it gets rid of the milk smell and the film that formula leaves.
