So my one year old daughter was jay sleeping and woke up choking and not breathing. I turned her over and started smacking her back and I stuck my finger down her throat. She’s fine now but was super stiff and was trying to beat he but couldn’t. She has a lot of mucous in her throat. The people at urgent care told me it was a respiratory infection and gave me medicine which hasn’t been working. What do I do if this happens again tonight ?? What should I do ?? I’m taking her to the doctors office tomorrow. I thought I was gonna loose my daughter tonight.

Have you tried using steam in a hot shower or a humidifier to help her breath a little better? I do that with mine when they seen to be congested

@kclaireeabbey, we were in a car so I panicked obviously I didn't have anything that could help so I just patted her back and stuck my fingers in her mouth like you did as well so she can try to puke it out atleast

@kclaireeabbey, go in the bathroom and close the door. Turn on the water to extra hot and let it get steamy in there and it should help her. Chill in there for a bit and get the suction bulb that you got from the hospital when you had her and suck all the boogers out of her nose and throat. She'll fuss but it'll be worth it! Keep her head leveled when laying her down but you'll want to sleep with one eye open! There's vaporizers and there's this stuff you can buy when you give her a bath. It should hopefully help. If it's a virus the doctors will probably say it needs to run its course. I usually give my kids lots of fluids and probiotics. Pedialyte also helps a lot. Mix it with apple juice though because she might not like it. If you are breast feeding then eat and drink lots a vitamin C type foods and drinks. Green tea helps boast the immune system. Also if she's not picky give get the same type foods and drinks. When did you talk to the doctor?
