I'm only getting a little over 2oz every 2 hrs of my breast milk and my greedy behind child is wanting almost double that Soooo of to WIC in the morning because formula is not cheap and I'm going to have to do both to keep her well fed and satisfied

Just because you don't pull much from your breast doesn't mean you're not producing enough!!!

@1st_time_wonder yea but she wants more and I don't have more to give her. She was bottle fed for about 5 days straight because my nipples were raw from her latching wrong so, she's used to getting a certain amount at a certain pace. IDK what else to do rather than to breast and bottle feed

Just let her breastfeed as long as she wants

You are going to stretch her belly. At 1 week old her belly is like the size of a walnut. 2oz is more than enough per feeding. If she is latching, she could nurse for comfort, to help you increase your milk, and to build her immune system. By using formula you are almost surely going to doom your breastfeeding relationship.

@beebaby I'd like to but having her on my boob for over an hour sometimes isn't doable. And she gets frustrated because either nothing is coming out or it isn't coming out fast enough. Then I get frustrated and we're both crying lol

It definitely takes dedication. I was feeding my daughter 4 to 5 hours at a time before she would sleep. It really is about what you want. I takes about 4 to 6 weeks to regulate. Now i have an oversupply and she eats in 10 minutes and is done. Its hard work but worth it

@mommyofmessiah-marie Just do what beebaby said. Its how I got through ebf with my daughter. I let her feed as much as she wanted. Then when she unlatched, I'd swaddle her and she'd go to sleep. Just try that. Don't do formula rn because just switching to a constant amount of formula like that will be horribly painful for a 1 week old. Constipation would be horrible and there would be tons of restless nights

@arivera64 she eats more than 2oz tho so I'm not gonna deprive her if she's still hungry.... I started out breastfeeding but I didn't know she was latching wrong and my nipples were extremely raw and bleeding so I had to stop and result to formula for about 5 days... Which is how I know for a fact that she drinks more than 2oz ( more like 3 1/2). So now that we're trying to transition back, she's used to a certain amount and a certain pace and my breast can't keep up alone

Believe me! I was engorged for 4 weeks before I started regulating! But after that it was super easy

She drinks that much because that's what she is given. Her tummy is stretched out. She doesn't need to have that much in one feeding. I know every child is different but even at 10 months old my son isn't taking more than 4oz in a feeding. So for a 1 week old to take 3.5oz whether breast milk or formula is not needed. If you want to continue having a successful breastfeeding relationship, seek other resources from WIC like lactation support rather than formula. Put her to the breasdt and top her off with a bottle of pumped breast milk if anything .
All of what was stated above is me trying to help you continue your journey. Not judging, bashing, etc. At the end of the day, you are the mom. You do what you feel is the best for you and your baby.

@1st_time_wonder @beebaby Thanks ladies. It's just frustrating when she's crying and I know why but I can't necessarily do anything about it.... But I guess I'll try to stick it out. My only other concern is, what do I do when I go back to work in 2 weeks. I can't pump enough to store away at this point . Do you guys think my supply will have increased by then if I stick to it???

You only need to pump the day before. You dont need a stash and you need to start today by reestabishing your supply

@mommyofmessiah-marie Definitely! Just ebf and pump and hand express as MUCH as you can and whatever you pump put in storage to keep! I'm praying for you mama!

Yes it will increase. You need to move milk to make milk. Demand the milk and your body will supply. Just put baby to breast

My daughter is 5 months and drinks 2 to 2.5 oz of milk every 2 hours while im away.
