So yesterday Urgent care sent me to the ER for breathing problems. I get to the ER and they send me up to labor and delivery outpatient cause I'm 22 weeks pregnant, okay cool. I go up and they put me in a room and hook me up to the pulse Oxygen monitor and nothing else, okay whatever cause that's what I'm here for anyway. At this point they haven't even checked my blood pressure, weight, no vitals whatsoever. So I'm sitting there for 2 hours only hooked up to the pulse oxygen monitor and then my levels start to go down. Pulse ox goes down into the 50s and my pulse jumps to the 160s. Machine starts screaming, nurse comes in and I'm like "okay cool someone is gonna check me" well she walks over to the machine, turns it off, and walks out. Then about 30 minutes later they come in saying "we are sending you back down to the ER cause we send you back down when your symptoms don't pertain to pregnancy" ummm, you haven't even looked at me yet how do you know that it's not pregnancy related?! Keep in mind at this point I don't even have a hospital bracelet on yet. 2 and a half hours later they are sending me back to the ER, I haven't been seen, no triage, not even a bracelet. I'm a bit miffed. 30 minutes later after sticking me in the waiting room I start to complain. Then after complaining all of a sudden I have one nurse trying to do an EKG and another nurse trying to draw blood at the same time. I'm like "cool now we might get somewhere" until they realize that I don't have a bracelet to scan so they can't actually do anything to me yet. Gotta wait to get a bracelet. At this point I'm full blown pissed. So I go up to the information desk and ask for the phone number for a patient advocate. Lady looks at me and says "this time of night?!" Well yeah this time of night cause I've been here for 4 hours and just now got a freaking bracelet! Anyway, she tells me she doesn't have the number. So apparently the INFORMATION DESK doesn't actually have that information. I googled and called and filed a complaint. They finally call me back after my complaint. Doc come in and asked what's up so I explained why I was there. He says okay and walks out. Not another word for about another hour. Then patient transportation come in and says "I'm here to take you for a chest X-ray." Umm, you're what now? No one ever talked to me about any chest x ray. In fact, I was told that my lungs were clear and that's the whole reason I was there because my lungs were clear ruling out phenomena and respiratory infection so they were considered I could have a blood clot in my lungs. So they discharge me without any testing whatsoever telling me "we wouldn't be discharging you if we thought that you were in danger" yet you haven't even looked at me? Y'all, I've had some pretty bad ER experiences but this by far takes the freaking cake. 5ish hours in the ER and I'm still in pain when I breathe and I still have no idea why other than what Dr. Google can tell me and as we all know that information ranges from eh you're fine to you're gonna die in 24 hours. 🙄
