My doctor was fine with checking whenever I asked. It doesn't hurt to ask and if your doctor feels that he doesn't want to risk infection then that is fine too.

@noahs.mommy I was only checked twice. But being 39 weeks and never checked even once, I would definitely ask myself as to why. But to each is own.

@juliaschade41, you can get an infection from being checked too much whether you have lost your mucus plug or not even if your water hasn’t broken yet. Drs don’t like checking us too often so they don’t and hold off on it as long as possible. Sex is okay because fingers are actually touching the cervix and are inserted into the cervix to see how open it is a penis is not.

@pinklily, i didn’t start getting checked until 38 weeks and at 38 weeks I was 3cm never made it to my next appointment lol but it’s so you don’t get infected.

@pinklily lol I've never heard of the infected thing. Its just cuz some doctors are different than others, and also sometimes you have to ask for it to be done. Only way an infection can get in there, is if your mucus plug is all out and your water breaks. Lol why else would sex be okay, which is like a dick checking your cervix😂😂😂 usually cervix checks start at 36 weeks. I had 2 done before they induced me. I would definitely ask why it hasn't been done yet.
