Don't know if i'm just "crazy" or a "drama queen" (as my partner calls it) but would like a second opinion from someone who doesn't know much about our relationship. there ARE two sides to every story, and i'm not saying i'm perfect, but i think there's only so much someone can take of something.
My partner has always had a problem with drinking. He has an addictive personality and rarely knows how to drink responsibly. I wouldn't go as far to say he's an alcoholic, BUT if he carries on the way he is, he will become very dependant on it. I've tried everything for him to stop/cut down and nothing ever seems to work. ☹️He is going to do stoptober, or so he says. Either i'll be right and he gives up, or he proves me wrong.
(This has started because he went out drinking 2 hours before going to a football match, drinking at the game, and going to the pub after. He'd been out from 12 till about 7pm. 😒)

We had the same problem and we have 5 months old baby and she sleeps in the same room with us..he was drinking almost every day and the room started smelling so horrible even baby started feeling unwell so i told him if he wants to drink he has to sleep in the kitchen whenever he drinks few days he slept in the kitchen..and i told him that i can see that alcohol is more important for him than his family and i told him i want to brake up..probably he realised that he can lose us and now he is not drinking anymore..maybe 1 pint of lager no more than that..

How is it effecting your every day life? Is he drinking to the point he cant get out of bed, cant go to work, struggling to function daily? Its fine to have a few drinks every now and then but if its taking over his life then there is a problem and its not fair on you or the children. I hope he is successful with the stoptober. If not maybe an ultimatum is the way to go?

I can understand this one billion percent. My partner is exactly the same I hate how much he drinks. I've tried everything as well, I ended up splitting with him a few days ago as I don't want Samuel growing up around that. Anyway he came cap in hand and said he's so sorry blah blah won't drink as much so I went to see him at 10am and what was he doing? Drinking. It winds me up. I don't think there's anything we can personally do to stop them. I mean my partner very nearly lost me and our son... and he just shed a few tears and begged for us back x

@kayteamay, It doesn't usually affect our every day life kind of? His body is so use to him having a drink that he can just get up and get on with his day as if he hasn't been drinking. He doesn't drink in the morning, but he would start at 12 and carry on if he could but i kick off. This has been a problem the whole 5 and a half years we've been together. He says some nasty things to get a reaction out of me but last night i didn't even rise to it! Like how there's no love there anymore and i don't love him and all this shite. 😂 obviously the drink talking@olivia161, @planovajaplanovaja,

@dhovakiinx is it the social aspect of the drinking he likes? Or does he just drink on his own? I think he should fully cut it out, but if it is the social aspect he'l fall back into it unless he can channel it into something else if that makes sense?

@beffgoude, He does it with friends or on his own. Like i know he likes a drink but he can't seem to drink responsibly :/

@dhovakiinx has anything bad ever happened to him when drunk? Like when I first got with my partner he was abit of a 'big fish in a small pond' he thought he was a somebody as he was life of the party. Then I fell pregnant with Brody and he was still going out and wasting money. One night he ended up that bad he passed out and got mugged etc. And pretty much since that day he gave it up as his mates just left him when he was in such a state.
He does have an addictive personality, so he had his party life, then it became music etc, gamings, now it's the vaping. He's a social butterfly, so was just wondering if your partner is the same? Like things might not get better until he finds something else to channel his energy into?
