My newborn is constantly waking up in the night with either a pile of spit up or sweat. It makes him uncomfortable and I try to dress him as I would myself and his Temperature seems fine but this continues to happen every time I lay him to bed. It will be on his back and there is usually a pile on the crib. I end up changing him, feeding him (because he's usually hungry), burping him, and then laying him back down for bed to have him wake up in a couple hours drenched. What is this? And how do I stop it?

You should call the on call pediatric doctor. Honestly I'm just thinking he's probably over working his system and is maybe a little over dressed. Do you swaddle him when you lay him down?

Another thing do you keep his head covered? As in like does he wear a beanie a lot? His head keeps all of his heat and makes him more warm so maybe if you have him wearing a beanie then keep it off him. Also you might be over feeding him if he's spitting up a lot. Do you formula or breast feed?

I layed him down with me in bed to see if he was spitting up and so far he hadn't so after a couple minutes I lifted him up and bam the bed was soaked where he was laying! I had a hat off and he just had a light weight gown on. We even had a little fan blowing. I don't understand how he could be so hot. Now we are thinking maybe it's pee! His diaper had no pee in it and he'd been wearing for a couple hours now. Could he be leaking out of his diaper?

@buntaine, I use to have that problem as well. It could very well be pee. Idk how many times he peed all over his onesie and not his diaper.

I have come to the conclusion it is most likely pee. I changed his diaper when I found out how wet the bed and his clothes were and his diaper wasn't even wet and it had been on for a couple of hours so I'm going to guess his pee went up and out of diaper. They are a little big on him so I decided to make it tighter and he didn't end up wetting the bed again! So hopefully our problem is solved 😊
