how do you know if you have cholestasis?

Never had it but all ove heard about it is intense itching

@chunkymonkies24, it starts off as itching. Generally I'm hands and feet, but it can be anywhere in your body. It doesn't give you a rash or anything. It's just intense itching. You tell your doctor and she'll run a blood tests. It's basically your liver not being able to clean out the toxins, because of the pregnancy hormones. Once that happens the toxins leak into your blood stream, and cause the itching

@mumstasin, oooh. i just have one itchy area under my belly button and ive been scratching it and i think it irritated the skin. but im not sure. my toes have been itchy a few times but i thought it was due to swelling.

@chunkymonkies24, this is like intense itching that doesn't go away. Itching in your feet could happen due to swelling. What you have is probably irritation in your belly. But just let your doctor know

Cholestasis causes still birth if it goes untreated

Im thinking i have it . Been itching like nobodies business these past two nights ... havent itched prior to this.. so im wondering if im just now getting it im already 38 weeks and cant get ahold of my dr office wondering if i should just go in.

@bmndz95, tell your doctor you need the test asap. I got induced. I got it at 38 weeks
