So, my mom does this thing that pisses me off like nothing else in the world.
She was a really shitty mother when I was growing up, and I was mostly raised by my sister, and whoever else could babysit me. We had a lot of issues with our relationship once I was a teenager, because duh, she hadn't been actually parenting me that whole time.
Rather than taking responsibility the problems we had, she just chalks it up to me being a "bad" kid.
So now, anytime either of my kids do anything at all that exhibits even the slightest bad behavior (I mean, the typical things all kids do), she says "You reap what you sow!"
And it literally makes me want to scream.

@mrsmord she's not necessarily saying it to be negative. She's very religious, and that's where she gets the quote. I think she thinks she's mostly being funny and wise, even though I express my annoyance every time she says it. One day she'll probably say it in too serious of a situation, and I'll just snap.

@kambam she had three kids, but didn't actually raise any of them herself 🙄 The whole high and mighty holy attitude is what drives me nuts though.

My mom does the same shit. I'm a single mom and she kinda was but she'll always say "I had it a lot worse!" Basically downplaying my situation. Not looking for pity but support. Jeez stfu already.

@kambam My mom is on her 4th marriage, and was mostly a single mom. We all have different dad's.
My mom more gives me crap for depending on my husband. We both decided I would quit working to stay home with the kids. Since all of her relationships failed, she thinks I should already be totally independent. You're supposed to be able to depend on your partner though, why even be married if you can't?
I hope my kids never complain about me as much as I complain about my mom 😂

Exactly! That's what marriage is for. You will be more independent when you can but it's such a blessing to have a partner to lean on when we're down. Idk...I think all kids complain about their parents to an extent 😁 still love em tho!

@kambam I was a single mom with my first son for awhile, and I worked my ass off, 60+ hours a week between 2 jobs. So if something were to happen where I had to be independent, I could handle it. But no way I'm sacrificing precious time with my babies that I'm so fortunate to be able to have, just so I can have my "own" money 😁
Love is a strong word, lol
