So I was under my mom with insurance and mine got terminated and I needed her to renew it and add my son on .. all she had to do was make the phone call .. I gave her the number and everything .. she went AWOL .. I couldnt do it without her since she was the "account holder" and it's all her info .. so I applied for Medicaid two weeks ago for me and my son .. how long does it take to know if you're approved ?? Cause my son missed his shots and I feel like shit about not being able to take him to the doctor 😞😞

Call his doctor and explain, I went through the same thing while waiting to get on my husbands insurance. Lots of times doctors will cover the cost through the state because they want the kids to be healthy.
Our pedi was beyond understanding and they helped walk me through everything.

It's retroactive for 3 months starting the date you applied. So if you or your son have any medical bills it will cover them. Speak with the pediatrician, tell them the situation that you're waiting to be approved. MAYBE he/she will do it and then bill Medicaid.
Ask your caseworker to please expedite the application because of your son's needs. NJ is a pain in the ass for this! I worked handling Medicaid and SSI in TX it was an easier system and MUCH NICER people. Here they're jerks.

You can check online to see the status of your application or if they sent you a notice stating whether you're approved or not. For Florida you login to MyAccess, same website you applied on should also have statements and notices about your case on there.
