Moms who have toddlers and newborns.....how was it for you all? How did your toddler adapt? How did you adapt? Mine is adapting pretty well to the baby but is really trying his father and I these days. Trying to see how far he can get with me. And of course he is wanting more attention. My husband and I on the other hand are feeling guilty. I can tell that when I discipline my son( which I was doing before the baby was here), my husband feels guilty and start doing things to make him feel better. When my husband is getting on him I feel the same. I think we both know we are doing a great job but just feel guilty. I literally cried for my oldest when I was in labor. I have a 2 year old and a 2 week old. I love my newborn so much! I don't want to feel resentment towards him because of my guilt toward my oldest. So...... how were you all's experience with this and when does it end?

Well I have a 4 week old and a 17 month old and it's HARD. I felt guilty for not giving my son a chance to be an only child .. for a little while. I don't sleep a lot tbh because most of the time when she's asleep he's awake , so I get my time in like that so he wouldn't think I've forgotten about him and stuff like that . We go to the park , listen to music anything he wants to do .

It can be tough. Just keep a routine 😊

Take time out of the day to read, play, and love on the oldest. My oldest is a year and a half and my youngest is almost 5 months. I have my oldest help with her baby sister by putting her pacifier in her mouth, pat her gently on the back when I'm holder her, cover her up with a blanket, and sometimes feed. My oldest still isn't fond of her sissy. She takes toys away from her and doesn't like when lil sissy touches her.

My SO is the same way with our daughter, he feels guilty when she cries..especially if he is the reason why! Lol

@shewolf94 I have heard a few stories recently from moms at the library who's oldest children don't really "like" the baby. Some even hitting the baby.😨 Thank God that is not the case with him. He wants to kiss the baby and hold him all the time. He just wants more attention from us. this just happened about two minutes ago while I attempted to reply the first time lol

She sometimes likes her lol

I praise and make a big deal about it every time she does something nice for her sister. She seems to do it more often now.

My daughter was very needy for awhile. Take your son out once in awhile, just the two of you. Take him to the park, go on walks, or even just shopping.

@shewolf94 He still gets attention. I guess just not as much as he wants. I do think he miss the time he and I spent together. I don't get to do as much I did before the baby. I'm going to try and take him to the library this week without the baby and my husband. We go there every week and to the museum every other or month. I do believe he wants one on one more with me. I have been wanting to take him to the park but I bleed every time I pick him up besides going to the potty. Instead I go on the balcony with him and let him play with his basketball court and slide. I wanted to take him to the store with me yesterday but was scared to lift him and put him in the buggy. Ill just ride in a motorized cart and let him sit on my lap. He is my heart and I love him sooo much! I want him to understand that.
