Why Do People Think Everyone in the South is Overweight?
One of my biggest pet peeves is the stereotype that everyone in the south is fat or overweight. Seriously will spontaneously combust on some people over it. Every time I meet someone new (well most of the time) not from the south or out of country they ask is it true that just about everyone is heavy set there... like bitch wtf no? Or that in most movies about the south they always have most all the people fat, dumb, missing teeth or dating someone from their family. Like really????? Fuck that.

Haha I've never heard of a southerner being fat. I have heard of the whole hillbilly accent I'm dating my sister stereotype though 😂

@sharaiaa27, goodness there are some people with the "hillbilly accent" I will admit! However I've lived in the south literally my whole life and I still get asked if I am from around here or was I raised elsewhere. I think it's all about how one presents themselves and what words they decide to use. And I personally don't know anyone dating their family members but I wouldn't put it past anyone from anywhere we live in a crazy world

And of course if you're from another part of the US you're bound to have a different voice than others! Like New Yorkers, people from the south etc. so I don't think that's a stereotype, it's just true, southerners have deep accents. Yeah that makes sense!! I wouldn't get too crazy about it. People are just stupid 😂
Like in my state (New Mexico) people think I'm from Mexico and always ask me how I am so fluent in English and ask how the cartels are and stuff 😂😂

Lmao i live in Tennessee and I swear, everyone who they interview on the news is always, ALWAYS missing teeth, seems illiterate, has 12 chins, wearing all camo...🤦♀️ it's as if they WANT people to believe the stereotype. Probably bc people keep moving to Nashville and now everything is crowded and expensive. We don't need anymore people here 😂
Also, someone I went to school with literally had a baby with her cousin. And they knew they were cousins. Makes me wanna puke. 98% of us aren't into incest. I promise.

I just seen in the paper earlier these kids I went to school with got married and they are distant cousins. The guys older sister also has a baby with the brother of the girl that just married.. if that made sense. They are all related. This is why the south has a bad rap. I was explaining all that to my husband earlier and he was like OMG what the fuck. Lol
