Seeking opinions and experiences with getting an epidural. Any side effects that you experienced…

Well for me when actually getting it they numb you. Before they actually put the anesthesia in, then they have to put another needle to insert the catheter and I can honestly tell you that I wasn't looking but my mom and it's a big needle, and you can actually feel the pressure on your back from them putting the needle, other than you giving birth you can actually build yourself pushing without the paint so you're not entirely Numb

After they give you all the epidural and you give birth you do get random back pains I'm not gonna lie about that

I've had it twice. The first time my water broke and it was pretty smooth sailing. My second time I was having a lot of strong contractions and I was told to hold still and the dumbass hit a nerve and made me jump. It worked well both times but one leg was always more numb than the other. The first time I had no side effects except the expected jello legs for a day. The second time however my back hurt so so bad for months! I was getting worried something was really really wrong but as my body healed the pain stopped. It just took awhile for everything to stop hurting. This time I'm going to ask for laughing gas but if they don't do it I'm going to get the epidural again simply because I'm a wuss lol.

Mine wore off before I pushed so it helped a little bit. I still have bad back pain from it. I can't stand or bend for longer than 5 minutes without getting pain lol

Worst experience of my life, so terrible that my second birth I had with no meds because I was terrified of getting it again. This third birth will also be natural. Screw that! lol everyone else I know has had good experiences tho, just not me 😑

You feel the pressure but doesn't hurt ,the contractions distract you from the pressure of the epidural ..the hard part is staying still during a contraction while getting the epidural done ..it helped so much I was relieved once I got it and was able to finally rest a little through some contractions with my first pregnant ..it wore off a little bit so I actual felt the contractions while having to push but at that point the pain doesn't phase you because you're so anxious to push and meet your little one..after I had no back pain what so ever as some do..now with my second pregnancy I got the epidural late I was open 7 and from then on opened quick to 10 and when it came time to push I couldn't feel anything my legs were numb and I was told to punch when I felt a contraction which was hard because the epidural was in I'll effect so I felt nothing ..so in a way it was good lol I felt literally nothing but it sucked cause I didn't know when to push and I do have back pain once in awhile this time around nothing major though .

I had one I regret it! I can barely pick my son up because I hurt so bad. I can barely sit down. I wasn't gonna get one and I caved in 6 hours into my labor I regret it so much!

I get back spasms every now and then in my lower back and I'll get pain in my spine but its slight and goes away fast. Getting the epidural however is absolutely terrifying. My nurse had to hold my shoulders down so i wouldn't move. I will NEVER unhear the sound you hear when they insert it. But the its the most wonderful thing that will ever happen to you after its all said and done lol. Mine did stop working 2 hours before i actually gave birth so i felt every little thing i had a 2nd degree tear and i could feel getting stitched back up. Its ALL worth it though...

Loved it💉 God sent🙌🏼 didnt even hurt because the contractions were so bad (my IV hurt more) I got 2 epidurals (one to prepare for vaginal birth & the other for a c-section called a spinal block) I just made sure I didnt see the needle & I asked my husband & nurses to make small talk with me. Afterwards I got really nauseous & itchy, nurses told me it was a side effect from the epidural but I wasn't even mad, worth it

Loved it! It made birth so enjoyable and exciting and painless for me! I was in so much pain from contractions an epidural was the least of my worries. I haven't had any side affects or anything after having it. Everyone's experience is going to be different because of their bodies and also their doctors. I would forsure get one again👍🏻

I don't know if I would of made it without the epidural. All though it made my blood pressure rise, & I was shaking from it.. I still plan on doing it again with my next baby!
