My son is 5 months and has major flatness on the back of his head. I get a lot of judgement on that, as if I've neglected my son. That is certainly not the case, but I'm still so humiliated and embarrassed because of it. We have struggled with tummy time because he has always hated it and fights me on it. With all of that said, I'm curious if any other mommas have struggled with this too. I'm still debating on whether or not to start the helmet treatments, or see if his new mobility (sitting up, sleeping on his side, etc) will help it even out.

I definitely know the feeling lol if you're still concerned about it when you go to his 6 months appointment, bring it up with the pediatrician. My son rolls around in his sleep too it was definitely fear inducing the first time 😂

@geekymomma13 & @pierced_momma thank you so much for sharing!! My son is getting better with tummy time, I'm just so concerned about whether or not the flatness will correct on its own. He even turns on his tummy at night now, which really scares mommy in the morning when I go to feed him lol

My son hated tummy time, so I would put him on top of me and talk to him so he would be more focused on me than on his position, once he stopped fussing abouy being on me I started guiding him into laying on my bed on his tummy until he would get upset. It went from one minute or less to constantly on his stomach that he army crawls. I have been considering the helmet because his head is flat too, but its gotten a lot better( the back of hos head had literal corners from how flat it was) since the tummy time but not 100%.

I would lay daughter down with her head facing left or right and would alternate each time she slept. Shes older now and prefers to lay on her side. And the flatness is pretty much gone.

@theinkedmommy Thanks! I was just curious of other mommy's experiences :)

@diegosmommy0213 My pediatrician doesn't think it's necessary. I pushed for the referral to a specialist that did my consultation about how the treatment would work if deemed necessary, or if I wanted to just pay out of pocket and go around our insurance. Also, yes of course I rotate his head when sleeping.

@kemara, Her doctor never mentioned a helmet, so I never looked into helmets. It corrected itself for the most part, but her head is still a little flat.

@theinkedmommy I'm relieved to hear it's not just me! Did you do treatments, or did it correct itself?
