They were a group of white nationalists and probably white supremacists supposedly protesting the removal of a civil war statue. Which I don't care about because I think it's bs that our country is trying to erase history to avoid offending people. But they had a permit and according to people there were fairly quiet and peaceful though there was plenty of video of them armed to the teeth so I'm sure they were prepared and even looking for trouble. Then suddenly two groups of counter protestors showed up, black lives matter and antifa and then the cities mayor suddenly (and illegally I might add) revoked the permit for their protest and drove them out of the park right into the groups of counter protestors. Frankly, the whole damn thing smells like an enormous set up, it makes no sense at all for them to suddenly revoke the permit and to push the groups of protestors together like that. And now a bunch of people are hurt and ALL the groups are to blame. And the media is making it out to be a conservative vs liberal thing which is also bs , because the kkk and white nationalist don't represent me or any other conservative I know and antifa isn't claimed by any of my liberal friends. They're all just a bunch of rabble rousers hell bent on causing destruction and dividing us further and its pathetic.
@cybilinside, the thing is, the blm protest were always set up to be " thugs who are looting" this whole time police are turning their backs on this situation. I actually know someone who lives in VA that actuall saw what happened. The white protestors were being peaceful. That didn't last long. The kkk has been at it for awhile now, police included. It was a big setup to piss the blm movement off. Had it been peaceful like the "initial plan" was this would've been resolved. There's a bunch of racist fucks out in VA. Again police included who pretty much just wanted a reason to fight. Since up north is getting gentrified, black folks are moving south. That's a no no to the white community. This was just finding a reason to go off the handle. It's way deeper than what it seems.
@bryannajneal92 That's what I'm saying, why were the blm and antifa groups bussed in? I have a lot of friends out there and family living in Charlottesville who saw these people literally climbing off the busses. Why? What was the point? I disagree with everything white supremacists stand for, they're utterly ridiculous, but in this instance everyone is saying they were being peaceful until the other groups showed up. So what was the point of bringing in two other groups who clearly stand for the exact opposite. It was definitely a set up and I'd being willing to bet the cops were involved in it too, from what I'm hearing the sure as hell didn't do anything to stop it. We're they actually told to stand down by the mayor, I heard that as well? I grew up in the deep south, I know how it can be in some places, but the majority of my time down there blacks and whites lived together with very little of the racist crap that seems to go on these days. Someone in our government or behind it is going out of their way to stir up conflict, those are the people we need to be pissed at. I detest blm, kkk, antifa and any other organization that goes around causing conflict, but at the same time a lot of those people are just seriously deluded, clueless individuals being used by someone else. It's sad and it's also infuriating knowing that unless we can put a stop to this garbage, this is what our children inherit. I just had to have a conversation with my 10 yr olds about "situational awareness" because sex trafficking out here in CA is SO bad now and even in my little town political tension and riots are happening.... I never thought I'd have to explain this crap to my kids so early. It's depressing.
@cybilinside, I completely agree. Oh yes, I lived in Oakland, Ca right where trafficking was alive in well. All this is a pure setup. It's disgusting af.
