Does your baby reach for other family members when he's in your arms? It doesn't matter who reaches for him as long as he is being reached for he will reach back to them and it seems like all the women in my family do this and I don't like it! To me it's saying do you want me instead of your mom and the fact that he reaches back is kind of a confirmation that he's a baby and he doesn't know how to make those decisions but to them it's saying something else
@vark, Lol, that used to be my son's favorite game. Now he only ever wants to be held by his daddy, which hurts my petty feelings now. Babies make so many feelings happen!
@sarahmartinez817 yea me and his dad did a little experiment where we took turns reaching for him and he just went back and forth a few times. I guess my petty little feelings aren't hurt anymore.
It's just a developmental phase, usually around 7mo they'll reach for anyone who reaches for them because it's a new skill and a fun game. Around 9ish months babies usually start a separation anxiety phase (not all babies, but most) and they'll refuse to go to anyone they don't know. But I totally get why it's annoying right now, I was always hurt when my son would jump to someone else, even though I knew he didn't mean anything by it.
I've seen a lot of babies that reach for whoever reaches for them. And I have also seen people trying to use that "prefer me thing" which I find annoying too. But that doesn't mean is what they are trying say. Every baby is different, but we have to remember that babies are explorers and they are always curious about what one person can offer to them.
@sarahmartinez817 tell me about it, lol
