Ok what's better with a 1yo flying: carseat on the plane or gate check it? This is all new to me and a spur of the moment trip so give me all of your traveling tips!
@lelepatts Well, that definitely gives you options in case you decide to hold him. How long is your flight?
There's also children's sleep aids that you could use to help him sleep during the flight. These are just options for you.
@j.andtaysmama lol that's crazy. Yeah I want to prepare for the worst & pray for the best!
You can take their diaper bag on with snacks and bottles for them. If you have a pacifier/bottle use it during take off until the plane levels out.
You can hold your one yr old and not pay a dime! Check the carseat as you are getting on the plane if you want. If you want to take the carseat on the plane for a seat, you'll have to purchase a plane ticket.
My niece flew when she was a year and a half and she slept the whole time.. lol I guess it just hit or miss😬
I really don't want to scare you.. lol my child was difficult, we brought bottles for those times but he refused to have them. He didn't seem to have any ear pain, just pissed off lol
@j.andtaysmama ok thanks! I'm so so nervous. What did you do during takeoff & landing for him?
@j.andtaysmama ugh yeah I'm worried about that! We got another seat so he could sit if he wanted to. I'm not sure if he would even want to stay in his car seat but I'm worried about how it would get handled if I checked it so I'm so conflicted! I guess there's no harm in just bringing it on?
When we flew with our 15mo at the time, we had him on our lap and it was AWFUL! He didn't understand that he couldn't get down and run around. He screamed and cried basically the whole 5hr flight. I wish we would have had his car seat. But all kids will act differently.. just what happened with us!😬
I'd say carseat, since it's more comfortable for everyone. He's flown 6 times now, and he sleeps at least half of the flight since he's in the carseat. We've had some 2 hour flights and some 6 hour flights.
Just make sure you have new toys and food, maybe a movie, and you can bring a bottle of water (for formula) and baby food through security, since it's for the baby.
