Those of you who have MILs that are involved in your child's life be thankful, because I tell you from personal experience, there are some in laws (like mine) who spends almost NO Time w/ their grand babies or can care less about doing so. Since we've been in Maine (almost 4 years), my MIL has maybe spent the total of 1 Month with her grandkids ( and I think I'm being generous with this estimation). It sucks because my son loves her and she doesn't make the effort to spend time with him and it's hurtful to watch and hear my son wanting to see his grandma and she doesn't pay much attention. And it's also hurtful for my husband because these are his kids. Yes, MILs can be annoying or give too much unwanted solicited advice, but at the end of the day, you smile, you thank them for their feedback , and you move on and parent as you see fit. All I know is it's so important for kids to have relationships w/ grandparents. Because once they are gone, that's it.

My in laws never see my kids. Only when it's convenient for then. My fil hasn't seen either of them since Matt's christening 3 years ago. He is a piece of shit. I am so lucky to have my parents!!

@scarapella1, I know the feeling. My mom has visited more and she lives in California and afraid of flying! I want to move back home! 😥
