Labor & deliver story:
It all begun when I was 38weeks & some days! @ Denver, Colorado.
My boyfriends family came from Oregon, cali & Wisconsin & we all decided to go to an aquarium.. My first time so I was very excited!! During that time of my pregnancy I was always super tired hated walking for to long & backaches 😒😅. So then after having a great time at the aquarium we all left late night & it was windy/cold, i was already feeling weird. I think something/one gave me the flu 😷 because the next day! I was starting to feel sick, I would get the chills & just wanted to lay down! Next day we all went out to some indoor pool 🏊. It was so hot in there & I just wanted to leave I knew something wasn't right I didn't feel right, every time I would walk I felt sharp pain down there 😖. So I asked my sister in law if she could take me to the hospital to see how many cm I was dilated & I wasn't even half, so we left home.. After we got home I just went straight to my room & slept all day, woke up to some fever 100 & I stayed home by taking medicine, even had someone put slices of potatoes on my feet, so thankful for whoever did that (I really don't remember who it was😓) I had a stuffed nose & coughing, my sister in laws pray for me 🙏🏻.. for the night I was kind of feeling alright after a good bath & all. But woke up to my father in law saying his goodbyes because he was leaving back to cali, a few hours later I just couldn't anymore I texted my sis in law & she took me to the labor & delivery floor & I had a 107 fever I was terrible, I was not even dilated which sucked.. I kept praying they could just take my baby out!! I felt like I was hurting her somehow from the flu, the dr (girl) was about to send me home with more medicines but thankfully 😅 something made her do an ultrasound THANK YOU LORD!🙏🏻 & right away she was worried that my baby didn't have enough amniotic fluid, she asked me "how do you feel about having your baby today?" I was EXCITED!! They gave me my fluids & changed me to another room, I called my boyfriend he was more excited than I was!! He didn't believe it though lol.
Around 5 or 6am they gave me a pill, not the Pitocin yet, a few hours go by around 9 Doctors were shocked because I didn't need the rest of the medicine & I was at 2cm I was also getting some contractions little ones . They asked me if I wanted a balloon catheter (such as a Foley catheter) may be used to help the cervix open, I didn't do much research on that so I went for it thought it would be smooth & easy! 😅😅 Girl was I wrong, worse pain of my life!! I was left alone after that & my contractions were so painful dude I couldn't take it! I would instantly asked the dr for an epidural like ASAP! They kept telling me that they didn't know how long it would take for the epidural guy to come in to do mine since he was in a emergency c-section doing an epidural at that moment & it would take about 5 to 10 minutes max, thankfully the guy came & did my epidural I was the happiest at that moment because I could finally sleep! That balloon thing literally stayed in there for at least an hour & it never fell out like they said it would 🙃 so they came in to check up on me & took it out.. Good news I was at about 7cm!! & went back out for another two hours or so & lady came back to check how dilated I was & sure enough I was at 9! She said "Alright you ready to push, I will be right back with the rest of the team" & I called everyone told them I was about to push & thankfully they were at hospital already heading up! I was already about to push when everyone walked in lol
It was so hard for me to push because my epidural wasn't working & had to get it redone & the guy gave me a lot of dosages of anesthesia I didn't feel anything, so every time I had a contraction they would let me know & I would push😩.. My daughters heart rate would go down & so they would yell at me to switch to my side, mind you I don't feel a thing! So I had them lay me on my side for a few seconds meanwhile my daughters normal heart rate would go up! & I had great people telling me to push my boyfriend & sis in law by my side & everyone in the room❤️💪🏻 after 10-15 minutes of pushing I had my beautiful baby girl ( 39 weeks & 2 days ) at 12:21pm March 16, 2017 & named her Khailyn Aviana Bustos 👶🏼👩🏻👨🏻 those nine months & six stitches were all worth it !! I wouldn't trade her for anything in this world she's mine & all I ever wished for☺️ I would do it all over again if I had too! 💪🏻
Al though I had the flu they still gave me more medicine to calm it down & it wasn't really working, when I asked for help to go to the bathroom I had to walk! The nurse would grab on to me but those little steps to the bathroom were so much to me that once I sat down on the toilet I fainted! From all the energy I put into pushing & blood loss! I had to get a blood transfusion because I had lost a lot of blood & I was anemic. I wish could have gotten more sleep though because I was super tired & it was the first night with my baby!
Doctors would encourage me to breastfeed my baby & I would try but she wouldn't latch on, it was something I didn't have planned but would hear from moms that it's the best for babies! So I decided to do it & she latched on with a nipple shield omg they do wonders! 😌 & now she's turning 5 months & still breastfed💪🏻🙏🏻❤️
All I would do was just stare at her & asked GOD why I got so lucky 🍀 she was born a day before st Patrick day lol funny fact.
Recovery was hard, bleeding so much! Getting up to the bathroom all times to shower & change.
Bathing my daughter & learning how to be a mom all by myself, my boyfriend would help me clean & bring me food. First day I got home postpartum depression hit me & i would literally cry my eyes out because I missed my mom so much being hours away from her killed me, I needed & wanted her help so bad it was every night me crying & calling her (I had her on the phone the entire time I pushed) every time I looked at my daughter I would cry, everyone would tell me it was going to be okay but I just didn't want to hear it I was so depressed I would not eat, I didn't feel like I needed to eat but I had to for my daughter. Until one day all his sisters/mom/cousins/uncle&haunt left back to Oregon I decided I wanted to go to my mom bought our plane tickets ✈️ & we left when my daughter was 2 weeks. I felt so bad because I actually wanted to stay in Denver & see what our future would be like but work for my boyfriend was bad & we didn't know what to do, we left all our clothes literally everything just packed little clothes & once we got to my moms i felt a million times better! My mom would bathe her, buy her clothes, diapers/wipes & even got her a swing! ❤️
Throughout my whole pregnancy I had so much help from my sister in laws giving me so much baby clothes to bath tub & bouncer baby shoes & much more! So thankful.
Khailyn was born in Denver but is being raised in Oregon lol someday I will tell her where she was born & she will most likely want to go visit 🤷🏻♀️💕. Carrying & growing a baby inside you is sure not easy & so is giving birth many women have it easy while others have difficulty having their baby but it's such a blessing & once they are placed o n your chest it's the most amazing feeling ever!! You will fall in love in seconds! It's so amazing what our body can do! It creates life❤️ I'm so thankful GO chose me to be a mother because not a lot of women can have babies & it's sad 😰 but I got lucky & that I will forever be great full for & many other things he has done for me🙏🏻❤️
