I have a question as a first time mom, how long after delivery did you go out as a family? Like to…

4 weeks I think... the store quick with a cover over the car seat is fine... people need to go get stuff but dinner etc we waited til 4 weeks

I just feel like I'm going to be stuck at home with the baby forever. I wasn't really sure how long it would take to get enough energy and courage to go out.

The day we got home from the hosp we went to my parents for a cookout so everyone could meet here. As for out for groceries and and dinner a week after we got home.

The first week we went lots of places

We started with visiting close family like one of our parent's just to get the hang of going out with the baby, that was after 2 weeks though and it would be quiet and calm at their house. I had no energy to do anything the first 2 weeks & I know my son was still getting used to his surroundings so I didn't want to go from place to place too soon.

Our first Walmart trip was when he was about 3-4 weeks old 👌🏼.

You don't have to be locked up in the house. It's good for the baby to be exposed to the outside environment, just don't let people close to him/her. Taking walks will do wonders for the both of you! ☺️

We went to Red Lobster for dinner at 3 days 😋

My personal reason for staying home was because my son only knows the inside of my body, never saw light, never smelled with his nose, and never heard more than the muffled noises from inside me... I didn't want to cause sensory overload and extreme stress to my baby... they can't verbalize stress to you and the shut down (stay asleep) it's too overwhelming so we took a gentle approach... and really what's a couple weeks in the scheme of things? Our babies will be walking and running around before we know it... I let him stay at peace and calm for the beginning 😍👍🏻😘

We went to the store at 6 days, 2 weeks at his cousins birthday party, mall at 3 weeks, 5 weeks at his grandpa's birthday party, dinner was 10 weeks. Just be safe and use common sense whenever you do go out. He slept for most of it and couldn't care less.
