I'd like recommendations on pill form birth control. Nothing that is implanted into the body. It's been over ten years…

@beebaby, ah! I remember 10 years ago I was on one that they told me I may loose a few pounds - and did. I loved it, but then they took it off the market (go figure) and I never bothered with finding another kind. I have a doctors appointment on Friday, and was just hoping to have some ideas. I'll definitely talk to him about it! Thanks!

Pills only that don't cause weight gain. Only thing I can think of is abstinence. 😂

I'm curios as to why nothing implanted. I love my Nexplanon.

@mermaidmeshy, I've been reading up on "mini pills" and they are supposed to only have an average weight gain of 1/2-1 pound gain. That's not bad at all if that's true. 🤷🏼‍♀️

For me, I don't like the idea of a for an object being in me. My own personal feeling. I know a lot enjoy that, I just would rather be on the pill. Plus, most IUD's are tested on animals, and I can't bring myself to do that. I know some pills are vegan friendly, and I'm hoping to find one that is cruelty free. Hard to do, though in today's day and age. 🙁. I'll try my best though!

And I know everyone's experiences are different, but my best friend has the implant in her arm and put on 40lbs in two months! No thanks! Hahah.

@jennatess I understand the testing on animals part. I'm a vegetarian, and makeup is especially something I won't buy if tested on animals.

Unfortunately a lot of medical things have to be before they are ok for human use. It sucks.

If I wanted to be a true vegan, I'd never get medical treatments, vaccines or other medicine. (Not trying to mock you at all) I can't do that. I'm happy that someone out there can handle not eating milk, cheese and eggs. I can't. I've severely reduced my animal intake and suffering of animals as much as works for me.

Good for you for being aware of animal testing. But also know that sometimes it's there because testing on humans can be so much worse.

@mermaidmeshy, I definitely agree. I just know that if I CAN find a birth control that is as cruelty free as it can get then I'm going to go with that choice. Ultimately though, it comes down to me not wanting a foreign object in my body. My body rejects every little thing, even piercings. I just have a feeling that an implant will be just horrible.

@jennatess Got ya. The Nexplanon has honestly been the only one that works for me, IUD's go so wrong for me and (humble brag...) but my husband feels it...

Pills I never take on time, I had a hard enough time with my prenatal vitamins! (Vegetarian btw, giant pills that smelled and tasted awful) It also didn't help that I had pretty severe morning sickness the whole time.

I have a friend on the minipills she loves it. It works fantastically for some, I hope they work well for you.😚💗
