Saw a few other posts and thought I would make one as well to honour breastfeeding week! What a journey this 9 months has been. While pregnant i didn't think I could do it, i didn't know if I wanted to. I felt pressured to breastfeed. The thought of being not only his mother and caregiver, but taking on the commitment to be his food source, honestly scared me. I remember telling the nurse after I had him, that it was okay if I needed to supplement, before they took him for tests. I think she knew I was nervous. I'm glad she looked at me with a smile and said they would have him back in time for his next feeding. I'm glad i stuck through those hard first weeks. Through the tongue tie, pumping, sleepless night, and then the teething, and still sleepless nights. Because it has given me such a sense of accomplishment to look at my sweet healthy boy and know that i did that, he grew inside my belly, and then once he made his way into my arms he found nourishment within them, cradles against me. I'm so thankful for everything breastfeeding has done for my baby, and myself. Nurse on mommas!
