Does anyone else have family problems? My dad passed away when I was 8 and my mom and I used to be close as hell, like talk everyday, but not anymore. I have a brother that I have nothing to do with...by choice. I have a sister as well who used to be on drugs really bad, she's been clean about 2 years now Thankfully. But I remember those 5 or 6 years she was addicted we were 2x a week going to her apartment to bring her groceries and money, etc. Well the past couple years my mom has been totally different. My sister lives with her and is clean and working. She never came to my apartment that I lived in for 3 years, and a little over 2 years ago my husband and I bought a house literally 2 miles from my mom, but she never visits. I literally talk to her maybe once a month through text, and she went a month without seeing my son and he's only 4 months old! I'm so confused. I don't understand why I've been married for over 5 years, own my own home, am doing really well but yet she doesn't want anything to do with me. I'm sorry this post is so long I just don't understand. How could a mother do that? I could NEVER IMAGINE not wanting to be at my son's house all the time, talk to him everyday, etc. How does a mother just forget about her daughter?

My mom decided right away when I was born that she couldn't handle being a mom full time. Only when it was convenient for her. So my grandparents got stuck raising me and she would occasionally drop in and out of my life between stays in jail. She used to miss every play, award ceremony, graduation, and sporting event. Once in a while I would get lucky and she would show up for my birthday party on time and on the correct day with some gift she literally found in the trash somewhere. It was usually broken or missing pieces whatever it turned out to be. When I was 13 she decided to tell me she was never around because she's addicted to meth but she kept one bit of info a secret, she was also a heroin addict. I had to find that out through a friend of hers mistakenly telling me like I already knew. When I was 19 we got into a huge fight and stopped talking for a while. When I was 21 and I had my first child I tried reaching out to her and she fucked it up. Then when I was 25 I did the same thing and so did she. Fucked it up again by stealing from me. She is a terrible person and all I ever wanted was for her to WANT ME. so now I have abandonment issues and a bunch of other shit from her being just terrible. I will never talk to her again and I'M GLAD I don't have to waste any more energy on that woman. I gave her so many chances to be a mom and get her shit together and yet she's in her 50s and still a homeless addict.

@ilovemychildren I'm sorry that you've went through that. I truly don't understand why women have children if they're not willing to be a mother.

@rleann123 having gone thru it makes me a better mother I feel because I know how it felt not having my mom around and I would never want my kids to think I didn't want them.

@ilovemychildren my mother growing up showed me how to not be a mother. She was a good mom til my Dad passed...then it was hell for me. I won't go into it but I agree I NEVER want my kids to feel the way she makes and has always made me feel.

@rleann123 that's good then. because they never will feel like that. they'll always know beyond the shadow of a doubt that mom loves them the most in the world!
